Earlier Dress/outfit - Era? and other ?’s - Many pix

I am confused about this blue silk skirt and top(s). The “lace” edging may have been added later (it's kind of tacky compared to the nice qualityt silk) and the second top is unfinished. I found myself wondering if the whole thing was a reproduction, but the inside of the first top has bones and appears to be authentic. I didn’t realize how small it was until I couldn’t get it buttoned up my mannequin. Parts of the skirt are unfinished too and there’s some crude (looks like my work!) stitching on the inside. Can you tell I am confused? LOL - Parts of it are so nice and parts are ?

I want to sell it all “as is.” Is there a market for something like this? And era?

The boned bustle bodice appears to be late Victorain, 1888 - 1891 or so. It looks like the original bustle skirt was remodeled in the teens, to produce a shorter, fuller skirt and the second unfinished bodice. There is a market for Victorian things in pretty colors, although remodeled pieces don't bring premium prices.

I think you are right to market is As Is. The appeal will be in the bustle bodice and that the skirt and second bodice could be finished up as a wearble set without any loss to the integrity of the original piece.

My first thought, when you were talking about the disparity in quality, was that two different people worked on it. The remodeling makes perfect sense!

Please post something or U2U me when you list it. I'd like to watch it and see if it stays in my price range.
