early 1950\'s ladies suit.... or is it ?

i have had this suit a while... smart black tailored style.. the lady i bought it off ( along with other stuff ) said it was her's and that she bought it in the early 50's... which does seem right, but as she worked in a charity shop i am getting neative feelings if it was actually hers ..lol...

anyway there are three labels on the suit 2 on the jacket and one on the skirt by the zip, there is a name written in red pen, ( which by the mway is not the name of the person who i bought it off) plus some codes.... there is a code which has been stitched over ...which is .....36/41

any ideas what this label is.....( maker's name, date )

It looks 50s, maybe early - mid 50s. Is the zipper metal or plastic? That would be a good indicator as well.

l thought maybe late 40's but oculd be early 50's...what is the shape of the skirt like..and size? its lovely

I agree, it is lovely and it looks early '50s to me - I would have put it somewhere around 1951-1954.

thanks peeps.....just wanted to clarify what the previous owner had told me.....would love to find out what the last label is though, there is also one in the jacket pocket..

there is no size label, and it looks as though its a size 12 , but need to measure it before i put it onto ebay,

here are the photos of the skirt, not that good .. the close up photo is of the back of the skirt there are 4 darts to shape the bottom ( sorry i know i need to start learning the proper names and discribing things ) there is also a split in the back ..which is longer than it should be as i need to do a bit of repare work... and there is a peice of material behind the slit so not to show off any inner part of the leg.
