Hello! this is my first post here, I am overwhelmed by the wealth of knowledge!
i've been collecting historic clothing that i can acutally wear (where i can find it cheaply in barns and antique malls!) for about 4 years and i've just found a breath taking abraham & strauss early wool blazer, must be around 1910 -15 is my guess by the wool/style and label (according to wikipedia) - but i want to know more - does any one know about these? would it have been tailored to fit a particular client? or did they make numbers of them to stock in the dept store? i think it is a man or boys jacket, but it fits me perfectly - did women wear blazers? - i am very curious of what kind of value I am holding here too. should i wear it? or could it be a museum piece? if so where do i take it? it is in perfect condition except for the lining in the sleeves has shattered. one button closure and satin lapel. scratchy wool, big split in back. any words of wisdom appreciated thank you!
