Ebay feedback - interesting article

Interesting that they point out starspast as a seller who was suspended for feedback. Isn't that they guy who was involved in fraud?

Interestingly, it has also been my experience that some eBay members are invested into the eBay feedback system to the point that nothing else can compare with the threat of negative feedback.....The mere risk of one negative feedback remark was of greater importance to this individual than assembling publicly available information that could potentially save other collectors from being defrauded of tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What Jason DeBord seems not to understand are the ramifications of negative feedback for the seller. It is not just a lower percentage rating - it is not about being so "invested" in the system that "nothing can compare with the threat of negative feedback".

IT IS lower status in the search results, higher fees for listing/selling, etc., and all of these things have a grave impact on the seller's livelihood. And since feedback % is now calculated based on the last 12 months instead of the whole record, a negative has more effect on long-term, reliable sellers than it used to. Ebay has come up with so many ways to punish sellers that receive negative feedback or less than 5 DSR stars that receiving one has serious consequences for sellers. And they are powerless to give appropriate feedback to their buyers in this kind of situation, and some buyers are completely taking advantage of it.
