ebay related question - non-clickable links?

I previously had my website address (i.e. www.tastyvintage.com) displayed in a picture in my listing -so not a clickable link, and didn't have any trouble from ebay.

It seems ebay have been on the alert again lately with a lot of pulled listings (not mine luckily) and I have temporarily changed it to just read 'tastyvintage' for fear of having an auction pulled midway.

I have a link from my 'me' page, but left that in place as I know that's OK. Does anyone know what exactly is ebay legal in the listing itself?

The way they word their policies is very unclear in my opinion (although my opinio is one of a rather hot and bothered woman today! very humid here..).

I have also read the help file over and over about links and came to the conclusion the they sort of stacked against us and is open to interpretation any way Ebay wants to .
But as you have your own web site one way around it is to link from your Ebay listing to a page on your web site which only has further details of that particular item and nothing else, make clear it's on sale on Ebay and plug Ebay etc.
If this page is hosted on your web site then the address will appear in the address bar of the browser. something like http://www.tastyvintage.com/white_dress.htm
People are very curios then may just delete the last part (white_dress.htm) and they are into your web site. Hay presto!
Is that breaking Ebay Rules?

Just add ,I also refunded a Ebay buyer some of his postage by paypal using by mistake my business paypal account ( verified business email address ) from that £0.75 pence refund he found my main web site and has over a few months bought a large amount of other items.
Just another way to capitalize on Ebay.

I did have an auction pulled for having 'pastperfectvintage.com' in a jpg image. It was the same image as my signature here.

As a jpg file, it wasn't searchable, and it wasn't clickable. So I can confirm that just having the '.com' will get you.

I removed it and will be replacing it with a similar image that just has 'pastperfectvintage'

You can have a link from your About Me page.

Now Paul may be right about linking to a page with more info on the item for sale. I suspect though it can't have an actual mention of your website or a link to other pages on the site.

When I contact an auction winner the first time of their totals etc., I do suggest they visit us at the website. And I do include a card with the website ( along with my address) in the shipped package.

Good points guys, thank you. Thanks Paul, I'm glad it's not just me that thinks the ebay poklicy is very ambiguous!

Hollis I think it was reading of your listing 'pullage' (is that a word?) that made me change mine/look into it further. Seems it's better safe than sorry!

I have the website address in my email as a signature, and just this week I have sold a dress (privately) to one of my regular ebay buyers who contacted me asking if I had anything coming up/available for sale as I hadn't listed on ebay in ages and she really needed a formal dress.

I exchanged about 3 emails - all with the website link at the bottom - and in the 4th asked if she had seen anything on the website that might give me an idea of style. She didn't realise I had a website..

So I am about to change my signature to make it clear it isn't just a link back to ebay!

These two paragraphs are what I consider to be wrong. or they could be made clearer!

Linking to Photos of Your Items:-

Sellers may include links to photos of the item for sale. The photo pages may also contain discrete links to other pages that offer items for sale outside the eBay online marketplace, but may not contain descriptions of or links to specific items on other sites.

Linking to Descriptions:-

When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item and the link conforms to the policy.

To sum up you CAN have a link to another page that is selling something but you cannot put details descriptions, price, size of what your selling ! (other than what you were originally selling.

Harriet you will be to young to remember "That's Life" on TV but I recon they would have a great time reading out Ebay rules and trying to understand them.
(that was a very famous TV consumer program on TV and became a sort of icon for consumer rights)

Hollis I totally agree with this part of your post below

so in Ebay world you can't actual mention of your website or a link to other pages on the site which sells anythink , to a blank page yes great you can do that!
