Carl Sandburg was married to Steichen's sister, Lillian. The Sandburg's last home is located nearby, and I love to go just to see the Steichen family photos. He even made Sandburg look good.
 
I love this photo! It's also on the cover of a wonderful book called "Edward Steichen - in High Fashion". This book is about the years he worked for Condé Nast, 1923-1937, and chock-full with gorgeous photos. This book was made for an exhibition which I saw here in Zurich last year. I just checked the book, apparently this exhibition has just been to New York and was supposed to go on to Williamstown, MA and Toronto.

Thanks Karin - forgot to mention that the poster had scanned images from the book. My favourite is the one above, and yes, it's on the cover too. Sounds like a wonderful exhibition! And book :)
