Hi Everyone,

Someone left in our communal area with a tag "take me" a GIGANTIC brand new stuffed white bear with delightful red hearts and a big, puffy red satin pillow, and partial tags still attached - I mean this bear would retail for at least $150 - 200 - - - - BUT, unfortunately, someone also put a smiley face on the bear's cheek in red magic marker. If I could get off the red marker, I could give this bear to my niece or a children's orphanage or somebody.

I googled "white spray fabric dye" but the only results were spray-on materials that turned into a kind of silkscreen that apparently could be removed in strips, if one wanted.

What is needed here is something that will permanently cover up the red marks.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Barbara,

How does that work exactly? I sprayed some Aqua Net on and immediately blotted (hoping to blot out) the red, but nothing much happened except that it got sticky, so I doused with water and blotted dry. The red is mildly diffused but still there.

Should I keep at it or what is the technique you recommend? I'll try to get a picture up.

I've had good luck with full-strength rubbing alcohol--used on the tip of a q-tip, then carefully blotted so as not to spread the marker. We had a big splotch of permanent black magic marker on a carpet in our home when we were trying to sell it--black marker on a beige carpet. Not pretty. I was able to get almost all of it out using alcohol. Also have had luck removing such spots with a cleaner called "didi seven," but not sure where you can get it now.

Ladies -

Thank you for the additional tips . . . . .

STILL working on this - can't do too much at one time for fear of getting too much of the bear wet . . . .

Didi 7 was great but does anyone remember Snowy Bleach - my all-time favorite stain getter-outer. It was discontinued in 2007.

Trying a bleach stick now - - it is much stronger than rubbing alcohol - - and have to be so very careful with the synthetic fabric. . . .

Will report back tomorrow . . . .

That's great to know, Anne. I'm still working with the bleach stick meanwhile - this is turning out to be one of those never ending efforts. The red line is about 90% gone but the two red dot dimples just don't want to say goodbye. Still working on it . . . .
