From a 1961 article on designer Eleanor Green: "...people who know Miss Green socially as Mrs. Benjamin Deitch...Mrs. Deitch was managing her own business by the time she was 21, a few months after she landed in the United States from her native Hungary...desirous of having some money of her own while staying with cousins in San Francisco, she arranged to make designs for the owner of a small, exclusive dress shop in the city where her cousins bought their clothes...The dresses were so wearable that the shop owner kept them herself. A dress manufacturer she met commented upon one of them and, on hearing the story of the designer, promptly hired her. After a six months stint there Eleanor Green was on her own, starting a factory which now distributes clothes nationwide. Its a family business. Husband Benjamin Deitch is its president and sales manager. And daughter Donna...designs clothes for her contemporaries under her own label, Donna D., in a separate San Francisco factory."
