Embroidered robe made in Japan

Can anyone tell me anything about this robe? I don't really know where to start describing or pricing it.

It's 100% embroidered - literally every single square centimeter, every part of the design is embroidery. It's pretty heavy and stiff .

Lining is I think rayon.

Tag is just "Made in Japan" with a symbol on the back - anyone know what this symbol means?

I was only able to find one similar garment, listed as a 50s dressing gown. That had a label that looked (to my eye) more modern than this one, as well as an XL size tag. This one doesn't have a size tag.

There are plenty of Japanese embroidered robes that turn up in search, but none with this kind of all-over metallic embroidery other than that 50s one and one that was described as 18th or 19th century, which this one obviously isn't.

Thanks in advance!

Ah ok, brocade makes sense. Here is a closeup photo of the fabric.

So it is called a haori? I wondered if it might be a kimono, but wasn't sure.

Would it have originally had a belt? it has no belt loops.

I looked up haoris and I don't think this is one, as they are described as short (usually hip or thigh length) with long sleeves. This one is knee-length with 3/4 length sleeves.

So not sure if this is a type of traditional garment or more of a dressing gown made for the export market? Really know nothing about traditional Japanese clothing.

I think the brocade, the Made in Japan label, and the little fabric hanging hook by the label all point to the latter.
It may have originally had a separate tie belt made of the same fabric.

Thanks, that's helpful. Any tips on pricing it? I'm really having trouble finding similar examples, other than the one.

Thanks, I wasn't trying to get around the rules, I thought someone might know of a more specialized source. As mentioned I have tried searching both current and past listings and only found one similar example. But, I searched for "embroidered" so that might be why. I will try again with "brocade" and see if that makes a difference.

While examining the robe further, I found another tag along the side near the front opening, but it's so faded I can't make out what it says. It appears to be a few characters or numbers inside a red circle. Maybe someone might recognize it?
