Embroidering over a questionable figure on an old Western shirt?

I'm looking to get my SO a gabardine Western shirt for her birthday that we recently saw at a vintage shop. It's almost identical to this one here:

The thing is, rather than a cowboy, it has a Native American on it and unsurprisingly, it's somewhat caricatured. I don't want to lose the shirt, and I was thinking perhaps someone who does this sort of embroidering could turn him into a cowboy. Basically it would involve putting a shirt on him and adding a hat (you only see him from behind, and he's on horseback.)

Perhaps this is a stretch, I'm not sure. What do you all think? It's a great-fitting shirt in great condition at a great price. Is this a good idea, is it feasible, and are there people you could recommend who might do this sort of work?

Thanks so much all!

Hello,

I understand your feelings about this, but I have to agree with Mary that it is best to leave as is for its historical value.

If it's any consolation, I don't think it would be feasible to have the embroidery changed in such a way that it seems original/authentic.
