Embroidery style on 1920s Orientalist coat

Hi vintage mavens I have a beautiful '20s embellished lamé coat, and I'm trying to find the correct terminology to describe the style of stitching used for the figural characters. Obviously "straight" and "parallel" are descriptive, but I wanted to know if the technique has a special name. The styles of the '20s just make me swoon. . .

TIA

The deep Dolman sleeves and pattern woven into the lamé don't show in the image above.

So beautiful!! This thread sent me down a rabbit hole of embroidery stitches/terms/types! I agree with Barbara that the stitch resembles a basket weave. I notice the stitches are spaced further apart than a typical basket weave, so I'm thinking this may be a simple running stitch, repeated over and over to fill in/form the figures. There's a type of Indian embroidery called kantha that looks similar to the embroidery on your (gorgeous!!!) coat. Hope you find out more info!

I've just looked at a bunch of stitches, and yes - running stitch (or some variation of it) seems to be the closest. Maybe someday I'll come across a fancier name for it! It's also got these individually sewn-on geometric beads that look like Tiffany glass... just amazing.
