Emma A Maloof dressing gown

I have this lovely Emma Maloof dressing gown and was wondering if anyone has come across this label before. I have been able to determine that the label was active from the 1930s up to the 1950s, and came across a couple of examples online (including one at the Met), but other information is scarce.

I will add information as I find it, but the first item I found was Emma A. Maloof in the 1940 NY census, where it noted she was born in Syria ca. 1892 and she was a dealer in lingerie.

EDITED TO ADD: In the 1953 NYC directory Emma A. Maloof, trouseaux, and Emma A. Maloof Inc., linens, were recorded at 444 Madison Avenue in NYC.

Hello,

I believe that I knew her daughter, who is probably no longer with us. She was already an older woman when I knew her 25 years ago. Perhaps I can find out more. There was a lot of money in the family she (the daughter) married into and she spoke of her mother and her dressmaking talents quite often. Until now I had not seen a label, and had almost forgotten about it.

Thanks for the information! And Barbara, how interesting that you had a possible link to the family. It is really a lovely peignoir, and I love all of the little details and that beautiful gathered back.
