Emma Domb Date check please?

Hello all,.,,

I firstly thought 70s with this dress laying in the mass pile of 60s and 70s stuff I had.

Put it on my mannequin and immediately questioned myself. So now I am going to go with 60s on this... but I tend to lean towards earlier 60s but it has a nylon zipper.... It doesn't look like it was a replacement other than the fact that there is excess material on the top and it is folded over...

What do yall think? Is this 60s or was my first 70s thought more accurate...?

I put a full crinoline under it but that is obviously too full, but it looks a little limp with out one... if only I had a regular one :-) any who both ways are pictured as well as the back because I am hoping it will help with dating.

Feels like acetate taffeta lining/under material with a lace and metallic threading overlay.....

The metallic is in the lace not really "sewn" in.... would this count as a lame'?

Thank you all again!!!

Jennifer

*ps.... I am stuck on the date because it kinda has a 50s influence to it too....I don't think it is 50s thats why I said early 60s but I am running my mind in circles! I think I am overthinking it!

Yes Nicole the sipper is down the back and 17"long :-)

The style is quite '50s isn't it? I'm guessing that the zipper is down the back rather than the side? I'm going to go with '60s on the strength of the material and the zipper but it could be a bit deceiving.

Ok so I am guessing some of the little details might help a little....

It has a rrounded neckline that Vs more in the back but scalloped edges all the way around.

It also has a drop v waist in the back with the taffeta materail and the back is only the tafetta with pleats creating a small bustle type influenced look.

There are also 2 little flaps of taffeta at the front waist. I imagine they were startched to lay a certain way.

I hope you can see all these in the pictures!

strikes me as late 50s or possibly very early 60s

i would think on an Emma Domb that the original zipper finish would have been tidier; that appears to be a replacement, to me.

pretty dress, Jennifer! and neat pearl choker, too
