Enna Jettick Shoes - Dating

Hello,

I’ve found tons of information on Enna Jettick, a new-to-me designer. However, I’m still not clear about the era of these shoes. They are marked “Cush On, Enna Jettick”. 30’s or 40’s, maybe?

The leather on the heels has a pink tinge, the uppers are more gray. I’m guessing it’s from wear.

Thanks much!

Jonathan can correct me if I am mistaken, but I am under the impression Enna Jettick is not a designer, but derives from -- and is intended to suggest -- the word "energetic."
Hi,
Thanks for the info. I thought it might be a play on words, or that she has a really cool name!

Yup, Enna Jettick was a line of walking shoes made by Dunn & McCarthy from the late 1920s to at least the late 1960s (it may have gone into the 70s) They were known for their fit because they offered the shoes in a wide range of widths. The shoes look 30s at first glance but the writing style, and the padded sock lining both look postwar to me.

I agree with Jonathan on the reasons for dating and just to add I have had these perforated vamps on shoes from the mid-1960's to mid 1970's. I'd place these on the earlier side of that. They are styled as a 'comfort' shoe probably for older customers used to the styles of the 1940s/50's.

Was looking around for info on Enna Jettick Shoes, a little late but I have some ads from the late 30s... Vogue inc Vanity Fair Sept 1936

These vintage ads can provide valuable insights into the fashion and marketing of that time. If you have any specific questions or if there's anything specific you'd like to know about these ads, please feel free to ask, and I'd be happy to assist you further.
