Era? and Fabric Treatment? on this sun dress ...

I was thinking this could be 30's, 40's, or 50's. It came in a box with everything from flapper items to the early 50's.

And I wondered what the pressed (?) fabric should be called. I have washed this with no problems - didn't even have to iron it. The last photo shows the reverse side of the fabric.

30s/40s cusper? The fabric reads almost like the chenille you find on beach capes around then. The print is fabulous!

I look forward to hearing what others have to say, and to seeing more goodies from this intriguing "box"...

I have seen this fabric but my brain is mush right now and I can't remember.
I think 40s.

Oh, how pretty! To me it looked like a kind of seersucker, when I looked just at the big photo - but I may be wrong.

I'm seeing 30s / 40s cusper too. I bet it had a matching bolero. Looks like someone has taken up the hem.

Yes, really pretty!!

I would say the fabric is cotton piqué...a little different pattern, but that is certainly what it looks to be.

I think its safely into the 30s (37-38) the way the bodice is cut with the big pleats on the bust. It probably had a matching jacket and belt at one time, although a plain white pique belt and jacket would work with it too

I agree with late 1930s, piqué and bolero and belt.
It actually made me think of Indian Summers, Season 2, even though that was set in 1935.
It's great!
