I recently just bought an Ernest Borel watch at an estate sale, and I'm now trying to find some more information on it. All of the ones I found on ebay were similar, but I woud like to find something exact, so I know how to price this. It's gorgeous and really neat looking. I'm going to be taking it to a jewelers to get a new battery.

I also have this Weiss pin. I currently priced it at $45.00. Does that seem reasonable? I did look at what others were going for.

Alexandria,

You're doing the best anyone could do with researching your items to determine price. Dealing in vintage, we hardly ever find the exact items out there as comparables, so we must go with similar items and our gut. As a rule, we don't offer appraisals here, so we can't help you with price, but the type of research you're doing should put you on the right path. Both pieces are very nice. The watch is especially striking to me :).

Thank you! I just don't want to price items unfairly. So would you say that the men's version of just the watch without a band would be something I could go off of for price?

I think comparing a watch face only and a complete watch, that the complete watch would be worth a bit more than the face alone. You said you were taking it to a jeweler, correct? Ask the jeweler for an appraisal. Better yet, ask an antiques dealer if you have one in your neighborhood. Sometimes they'll throw you a bone...but sometimes not.

Also, some watches, if let set for long periods of time with a dead battery, may not work any more or require repair due to battery seepage. So make sure that you find that it's in working order AND keeps time before pricing it.

Good luck!
