ETSY on "The People's Court"

LOL. I have to confess I did watch it.

A buyer sued a seller over custom items. Evidently she posted in the Alchemy section. She wanted someone to put rhinestones on t-shirts she had already bought for a wedding event.

The product was obviously bad.

The judge says the BUYER would have WON.... BUT evidently the buyer had accepted a small refund that negated any lawsuit. The refund was an acceptance of a settlement offer.

Kind of interesting!

Interesting indeed!

But how foolish of the buyer to accept a refund, then take the seller to court. If buyer had intended to take the seller to court right from the beginning, she should have not taken the refund. Accepting a refund as satisfaction of a complaint likely negates the right to other recourse. You can't say "I accepted a partial refund to settle my complaint, but, hey, I'm still not happy so I'm going to take further action." If the refund was agreed to bilaterally, then buyer is SOL....
