Hello again! I am posting about this beautiful Evelyn Varon vintage women's hat that I've had forever and haven't known much about the designer or possibly even the year. I know little about her, that she was a French milliner, but would like to know more! I've assumed it was 1940's-1950's just by the appearance, does anyone know in particular possibly what year and anything about the designer? The hat originally had stitches in the front keeping the shape more condensed, but you can see they have come apart. There's also a separate tag that says "New York Creation, adjustable." Does anyone know anything about this piece? Thank you!

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your lovely hat with us. It dates from the 1940's, and the earlier part of the decade. Evelyn started making hats in the very early 2oth century, and was already well established by the 1920's as a major force in millinery.

The NY tag indicates a hat made after 1940, the the style is a classic WWII Swing era hat.

Wow, I figured it was 1950's but to hear it's actually 40's is amazing! Thank you for your info!
