Ever hear of this dressmaker?

This is one of the most gorgeous dresses I've ever seen. It's not flashy, no, but my goodness, the work, and the quality of work, that went into it. I cannot find a SINGLE bit of information on Miriam Shore of Philadelphia. Were she working today, or in the recent past, surely a Google search would turn up something. Then again, perhaps she made the dress for herself? It's a complete mystery. I tried contacting the Philadelphia public library for help (perhaps an old phone book would provide answers). They charge for such services! So much for public.

Label pics?

My guess is that she's a professional dressmaker - google isn't great for historical information, aspects from the past are only available if someone has cared enough to put it online. It might be worth spending a little money and researching at the library (although I'm surprised they charge, I guess it costs them to store and retrieve the data).

Oh, and I would date your dress around 1977-78.

Well yes, but I'm not in Philadelphia, I'm in Atlanta! They want several dollars for each search. I'm willing to give it a try, but narrowing down WHICH phone book to look in would be helpful. Clearly not a modern one, as they are on line already. So which decade would you suggest?

I think I must be dimwitted, and I'm sorry to trouble you, but I find this message board extremely difficult to use (and I'm pretty computer savvy, normally). How do I delete that bizarre empty comment? How do I post an additional photo? Do I have to go back to the admin page?
