fabric belt ties in front or back?

Is there some kind of way to tell if a unattached fabric tie belt is meant to be tied in the front or back? Perhaps according to year of manufacture or some kind of visual hint on a dress? I'll attach a few examples of what I mean I've mostly been going by instinct about what I think looks best but would love to be more accurate as to how it would have been worn in its day.

If you can post a photo of the labels and indicate to which dress they belong, I will look for ads with a sketch or picture of that dress. My guess is that most or all of the belts tied in the front. I base that pretty much just on the fact that my memories of my dresses with belts are that it was always pretty uncomfortable to sit back with the belt knot in your back.

Wow that would be great. I'll have to take pictures of the labels tomorrow if they are from a particular brand but they are all from Bullocks Wilshire.

Hi Sara,
I think you've got the right idea tying the belts center front or just to the left of center.

I remember tying belts in the back to get a smaller waist effect. Of course it depended on the cut of the dress.
