fabric help needed--1940s knit jersey set

The fabric on this knit jersey set is baffling me. I originally thought it was a wool blend because the maker is Jack Frost Woolen Mills. But I did a couple fabric tests, and now I'm not so sure. I got the fabric wet because usually if something has wool content it has that "wet dog" smell. But it doesn't have that smell. When I did a fabric burn test, it burned slowly and self-extinguished, but it had an afterglow and no bead. And it had a slightly sweet smell, but there weren't any other synthetic indicators (hard bead, melting, etc.). I'm just confused. I've attached a few pics. One other note: the fabric has a slight sheen. Any thoughts on fabric content are appreciated!

I think it might have rayon content, but I don't think it's 100% rayon jersey. It's more textured than other rayon jerseys I own (you can see this in the pics), and the fabric burn test didn't seem like 100% rayon. My best guess right now is a silk/rayon or wool/rayon blend.
