60's dress got that, finally getting dating woohooo.. dont know what part though...working on narrowing my ages down.. I assume late 60s?

But i need help with the fabric. what is it and what to call it. Pretty sure it is fully silk lined so I cannot cut to burn,,, which I do to keep from flooding here with fabric help...

It has a puffy and quilted feel, silky and metallic thread woven in? I cannot find a label as far as company but appears to he high quality... has an all blue union label and a blue size 16 cardboard/paper label in neck line.

I attached pictures of the dress so yall can get a feel for the dress... any help is appreciated... oh and will this be considered a shift dress? not too good with the shorter dress terms.. never had any lol other than circle skirts!

Thank you all again!
Jennifer
PS... Im fine we are missing the hurricane... just tropical storm winds here which is pie in comparison! :-)

Hi Jennifer,

Great news that Gustav is skirting you!

The fabric is called matelasse. Here is the Online
Dictionary definition:

noun: an embossed, compound fabric woven on a dobby or Jacquard loom.

This would be a matelasse brocade.

I would say mid 60s on this cocktail dress.

Very snazzy!

Sue
