Where can I go in the Bay Area to identify the fabric of a specific vintage garment I own?

I'm not sure about the Bay area. Perhaps someone will drop with information. We do have a comprehensive fabric resource, however:

Hello,
Can you be more specific as to what you are seeking? Are you looking to identify the type of fiber that your fabric is made of (silk, wool, etc), or looking for the type of name for specific weave in the fabric (brocade, gabardine, satin, etc), or are you trying to find out the maker and/or the textile designer of a printed/patterned fabric?
Lacis museum in Berkeley might be of help, or any of the museums such as the DeYoung which has a great textile collection.
If you show us a photo, we might be of further help.
