Fabric Question

Hi All!

I am terrible at identifying fabrics and I'm hoping you can help me with this suit.

It is checkered purple with a blue base. It changes color in the light-from purple or a bluish color. It has a beautiful effect.

There are no tags/labels on the suit and it is lined in brown.

Thank you in advance!

Nice '50s suit! It will be wool, a checked plaid probably. When you say it changes colour, that sounds like it's "shot" but I haven't seen that in a wool before.

If you show a photo of the interior, it will help but it's probably rayon twill (with a diagonal weave), because that's what most of these '50s wool suits were lined in.

Thank you Nicole.

Here in a picture of the interior:

I do know it is not wool, although I could see how it may look that way in the pics.

I googled rayon twill and I think you are dead on.

What do you think the interior lining is? I immediately thought satin, but there is probably a more accurate name for it.

If you post a close up of the fabric, it will make it easier to identify. You might also like to try a burn test - if it's "shot", it may be a rayon.

The lining could be cotton sateen.
