I've been meaning to post about this for some time, but forgot about it again!
Here's the exhibition website: http://www.bgc.bard.edu/gallery/gallery-at-bgc/fashioning-the-body.html
This is all about body-shaping (under-)garments through the ages, starting ca. in the 16th century. I saw the original exhibition in Paris at Les Arts Decoratifs, and can only recommend it to anyone who's near! I really enjoyed seeing this, as it showed many things that usually you do not see in fashion exhibitions - and there is quite a lot to see! Some things like crinolines were replicated, and are shown how they "work" with mechanic movements - very cool!
The book is now also available in English. It was originally only available in French, and I passed it by then as there's a lot to read, beside the many photos and illustrations (it's a big book!) and I didn't think I knew all the "special" vocabulary. Well, I have ordered the English version now from Amazon, and it is really good! Very recommendable.
