fashions from the Met Gala - Marisa Tomei wore vintage Adrian!

Wow--that Adrian gown is lovely! Proof that 1) vintage can be timeless, and 2) understated can be spectacular. A dress doesn't need frills, poufs, or an assortment of embellishments to be stunning.

The Adrian looks great! Bravo Marisa!

Now, if only Madonna realized that she looked MUCH better when she was channeling Evita rather than Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke... what the hell was she thinking? And also, what the hell was Kate Moss thinking? First of all, there IS such a thing as TOO much fake suntan cream, and secondly, is she trying to looks like Raquel Welch in Myra Breckenridge?

I just realized that this was a gala for the Costume Institute, but they forgot to mention what the exhibition was! lol
nice reportage - its all about tits and couture, not the event...

The theme is Model as muse. For those who like witty snark with their fashion, the project rungay boyz ripped most of the looks this morning.

the perfect place to wear my ESTEVEZ, now how do I go about getting an invite? JK'ing

I sit in northern Vermont in my jeans and t-shirt scarfing down oatmeal and LOVING the internet. Must zip over to the Rungay fellows. I doubt I'll ever get behind dresses with high slits ...

Marisa is great, isn't she?!!

here are some random thoughts that popped into my head while flipping down thru the photos:

Kate's toga dress looks like he (Marc Jacobs) threw it together for a sorority kegger...

and why would she (Kate Moss) want to age herself like that? ugh.

Liz Hurley looks like she's having a blast, and lots of champagne...

Madonna, Little Rabbit FooFoo

oh! and i nearly didn't recognize Justin Timberlake (seriously); the glasses really DO work as a disguise, Superman!

Could Emma Heming look ANYmore like Demi???

I LOVE Heidi. period.

i also love Anne Hathaway, but her stylist/whoever did her NO favors with that horrible hemline, it would have been divine full length, tho...

the Louis Vuitton jumpsuit? :barf::barf::barf:

Kate Hudson looks like she's holding her breath.

and i'm in love with at least the part of Kate Bosworth's dress that shows anyway...

"they" say Elizabeth Banks looks chic, i think that hem is ridiculous.

Amber Rose = HUbba Hubba

Hillary Swank needs to get that static electricity under control...

Iman and Rosario Dawson are amazing.

the twins are just sad, aren't they?

Jessica Alba's black tights look odd...woulda been a knock out with sheer stockings instead.

I find it hard to believe that Anna Wintour would choose that dress, or that her daughter decided that navy blue number looked good as a formal event dress.

:USEROCKY:

I liked a lot of those dresses, my favorite is Claudia Schiffer in Versace, so interesting

Wow what a range! The Adrian is my favorite. Understated elegance, you can never go wrong with that.

Interesting to see the vibrant blues, haven't seen them in a while. They always look better in person than on camera. I'd love to see some pattern being worn for black tie though. Something warercolor-y on chiffon would be nice. Oooh and with a nouveau flavor! I'm tired of monochromatic.

Is that a bad angle on Rachel Weisz? She looks gaunt, like a tube of toothpaste nearing the end. She was lovely, strong, and curvy in the Mummy movies, I hope she hasn't gone the skeletal path.

I love Marissa! Iman next to her isn't looking too bad either, she sure doesn't look 53, but Wiki says she is. Cindy Crawford still looks good...unlike that oddly timed Halloween decoration she's standing next to.

I thought Cindy Crawford was trying way too hard, same with Elizabeth Hurley. Those looks are great in your teens and twenties - in your 40s, it can look a little desperate, no matter how beautiful you are.
