Any help appreciated.

Hello,

I think the hat itself is late 40s to early 50s, as has been speculated by my fellow members. The feathers, however, are much much older than the hat and I would say the feathers date to before WWI. So your hat is likely a marriage of antique feathers and a vintage hat. I doubt this was done at the time the hat was made (circa 1950) but they were added later.

There was a French milliner named Lewis in 1910 and perhaps that is why you thought your hat was from that time.

I meant from the article link. The script was used quite often around turn of the century.
Threw me off as I thought the store did not rebuild till reading further.

I know you are an expert in hats. The feathers are striking especially on the underside.
Like stripey?

Looking closely I do see thread tacking. Why would someone do this to a hat?

Thanks. Sandy
