Hello everyone!

I know Filippo Catarzi has been around for donkey years, but is this a 1960s orignal hat or a repro of his? The fabric label just looks newish but the hat looks convincing (but what do I know!)

What do you think?

Thanks Eel for your reply. Yup, my feelings too, sadly...but yeah, it's a nice hat anyway, though I think looking at the label, the machinist might have had a gin or two at lunchtime :booze:

I can't remember seeing such a badly sewn tag on a vintage item, although it wouldn't be unusual today.

That might be another clue when deciding if something is vintage or a reproduction.

Yes, that was another clue for me, but because the rest of the hat was well made and didn't seem super new, then I thought I'd double check.

I'm going through all my stuff at the moment tagging and labelling for my first vintage fair, and this hat was one of my first buys...it's only now that I'm a few months down the line, that I thought 'hey, that don't look right'.

But at least now I'm not going to sell a hat as 1960s which isn't. My conscience is clear lol!

Thanks everyone!
