Hi Im new here and I have s real good feeling that Ive finally found the place I need to be! You see I buy storage units at auction and end up with a lot of things i either can't get identified or just can't seem tofind an honest fair value on the vintage jewelry or clothing I come into possession of. With that.....

Can anyone give me an honest value on These 3 New York Creations wide brim hats?

Per FORUM RULES, we do not value items.
We can often help with age, style, maker, etc.

[EDIT: If you plan on selling, finding eBay SOLD prices for similar items can be very helpful to get an idea of realistic pricing.]

Your hats are not actually made by New York Creations, HERE is some info on that group, which apparently formed in 1941. Your NYC label appears like the 1940s one in our Label Resource but do wait for our hat experts to offer more insight, this is not an area of expertise for me. :)

And wowza. They all look wonderful!

Shipping can be a bear with wide brim hats - they have to be protected in a box, and larger dimensions add extra charges beyond weight based.

Than k you both and you're absolutely right. I haven't even contemplated the shipping part of it yet. I may be having to make my own hat boxes....

As has been mentioned, these are 1940s hats and really nice ones too. The first one is my favorite as it has a very interesting sculptural shape which will appeal to collectors and adds value. The other 2 have nice wide brims which a lot of collectors look for. I especially like the straw as it has a small crown which makes it look very 1940s! They should fetch a fairly good price, but that depends on the market/venue where you sell them. Yes, shipping has become super expensive for wider brim'd hats. It has effected the prices as some buyers do not want to pay, for example, $28.00 to $50 and up to have a hat shipped, but they DO still sell and are very desirable.

They are nice find indeed.

I would love to know more about the best venues to sell. So far, I am just on etsy but I see various things on ebay. Which is better?

some people love ebay, i wouldn't go near it ever again, personally. ugh.

but Ruth is right, there are so many pros and cons for each selling venue.

Echoing Ruth and Mary. On the member side of the forums, we also have this discussion periodically.
