My first instinct on this sweater was 60s but in the back of my mind I think maybe it's late 50s. Any thoughts?

Very cute, Carrie! I would think very late 50s into the early 60s.... I think that's when orlon acrylic was about at its peak (well, it was into the mid 60s, I believe, but the style of your sweater seems earlier than mid 60s to me, too).
Especially with those 3/4 sleeves...early 60s!
