Floral Top - Age?

Hello again, everyone!
This piece I also found at a thrift shop. The images don't do it justice, it is truly gorgeous. I'm completely unsure of the age/ if its vintage, so I took several photos.

Also, a question I have is: what can I infer from the tags that only have "Lot & Size" like this one.

Thanks for reading!

This looks like it was once a dress and has been cropped off to make a top. Maybe it was damaged.
It appears to be late 50s or early 60s.

I used to have a cocktail dress made of the identical material. I would say mine was c. 1963ish. Yours might not have been shortened - I bet it came with a pair of capris to go with it.

Thanks everyone for your input! Comparing the threads on the buttom versus the rest of the piece, I'd have to agree with the ladies!

I agree that it was a long dress. Surely there would be no need for a zip that long unless it was originally a dress.

Thanks everyone. Seriously so helpful. I now know to look for these things!

I know that it's against rules to advertise/mention specific shops (not that I have one quite yet), but is it alright if I ask questions on price? I'm just curious about this piece because,

Pros
It's absolutely gorgeous, the color is incredible
It makes a cute top

Cons:
Been changed / altered
The discoloration under the arms

Would $25 be a reasonable sale price?

I have so much to learn!

Sorry Vik94 but we can't advise on price - it depends on where you sell it: location, venue and also other factors that we can't tell from photos.

If you look for similar things online in completed auctions that might help.

I generally price my stock by calculating a mixture of what I paid for it, what I had to do to it to get it shop ready (cleaning, restoring) and what the market will bare. It's more of an art than a science and almost impossible to get right all the time. I used to work in fashion and sometimes I envy the easy formulas they use, generally cost x margin = retail.

Alright, I'll do some research! Are there any books you'd recommend? I have several on a list to pick up that we're reviewed on the VFG site!
