Flower and shade help with this Pringle sweater...

please!

Now believe it or not, I did grow up in the country, but the city has wiped out any understanding of what these flowers might be intended to be:

er. I know I should know.

From this sweater:

The flower shades vary from violet to sky blue. What would you call the background? Not quite navy, not quite royal blue...

I love the shop's name...

Yes I agree and would make a nice title too ;) , or cornflowers? Lovely jumper!

Shade..hmm. I over-use 'dusky' for everything, but I have a better name on the tip of my tongue.. will go sort out the washing up and then maybe it will come to me!

Harriet,

Yes, there are cornflower shades in there too - are they larger? (I forget...No pun intended)

I was thinking of calling the base shade 'slightly heathered-*something*'. It's not quite what one would call petrol blue either, right? And a little too light to be indigo?

hmm.

I think the label/neck shot is probably most representative. But it does have a variegated quality there, and it must have at least two different shades in the knit - I think one qualifies as royal - perhaps the other is navy and I'll just have to describe it as a mixture?

LOL I understood the flower part of your question but I had it stuck in my mind you were talking about a lamp shade and was trying to figure out where that part of the question was coming from...
It looks like a mottling of midnight blue and royal blue... I really like this, I have a weakness for cashmere... they look like forget me nots although I live in the country part time, I know less then most city people about flower names! I just think they are pretty!!

What is the unstretched bust size on this sweater?

michelle

I like vivid - I think I'll chuck that in as well as 'rich variegated' and 'heathered'. Thanks Michelle! Midnight is also a good one. Arguably it's that dark, edge-of-space sky blue, but I think I'd be taking it a bit far to start evoking rocket flights...

It's a relatively generous size for Pringle at 22" underarm to underarm unstretched, and 22.5" long too. I'll have to finish the listing tomorrow, alas, as I have to run off now...

Hi, Lin.
Perhaps it's my dark monitor, but I'm seeing cerulean rather than royal with the midnight navy. It's lovely.

Vera

Vera, that's it--that's the color I've been wracking my brain to come up with ever since I started reading this thread. I kept thinking--carnelian, no that's orangy; carrullean, no that's not right; dadada dadada. etc.

Yes, on my monitor it shows cerulean.

Lin, I second the vote on the color, and I adore this sweater (and it's my size, but I think DH will kill me if I bring one more vintage piece of clothing into this house, even for my own wear.....)

Thanks so much for your help everyone. I ended up being incredibly restricted as to title keywords (to the extent that I couldn't even get in 'floral' and had to resort to 'petal') having thrown in cashmere, pringle, intarsia etc.

But I think I covered all suggested bases in the description - cerulean etc.

Thanks everyone!
