i had to resist the urge to write "kamali kwestion"

after a couple weeks of madness at work i finally have time to do another "big batch" of listings, and i've convinced myself that it will be well worth my while to list the Norma Kamali dress i had a question about a couple weeks ago. (recap- here she is: )

i was taking a closer look though to make sure i have all the details correct and mention any "blemishes" and i can't tell if something is... not right... with the satin. there seems to be a kind of, i have no idea how to describe it- it isn't wear, it isn't fuzz, it's just like a... sheen or something to it. the same look like you get if you wash something with a little too much fabric softener, if that makes any sense. here is a pic i was using for the 'pit discoloration, you can sort of see what i'm talking about:

do you see it? the kind of not-quite-fuzz? since i don't usually deal with high-end pieces (this might be the highest i've ever sold, actually) i'm not familiar with satin "properties". is that just the way it is and i'm being way too picky? could someone have washed it (*gasp!*) instead of dry cleaned it? how do i describe it in the listing? :puzzled:

thanks in advance!

[edit]: egads! sorry the pics are so dang huge lol!!

Hard to tell from a photo, but this looks to me like normal wearing of the satin, from it being rubbed when worn. It's sort of like pilling on a sweater would be--the fibers don't lie as woven any longer. Also there can be small pulls/runs in the fabric that add to this surface look. This does happen to satin. When I worked in the bridal shop, we would see it in the sample dresses, both from being tried on and handled on the racks.

Yours doesn't look to be really out of the norm--again hard to tell in 2-D photos; seeing/touching in person gives you a better idea of how bad/not so bad it is. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it, and would describe it as "normal" wear (unless you feel it is really atypical, then you might want to explain a bit more).

Hope this helps!

I agree with Anne...looks like the regular wear that comes with satin...though in my experience, wear on satin is bearly noticeable without extreme inspection!!!
don't think it will affect a dress this gorgeous!!
