Foo Asian Coat-Age

I always feel like I should double check on handmade coats-this one has no label and has elements common to the 40s-50s but heck it could also be an 80s coat inspired by>>> Let me know what your thoughts are... The fit of the arms are shorter and the coats size makes it feel like an older fit when on- like a typical 50s coat is how it is cut or feels on the body. The collar is a faux persian lamb. The lining a nubby silk.

Thanks!

I think it's fairly recent - the buttons are modern (I would expect them to be no earlier than '90s) and the general look is not of a vintage garment, with a top stitched collar so I will place in the last twenty years.

If you can give some construction details, eg seaming, finishing (overlocking/serging?) and hem that might place it earlier, but I expect it is an Asian made custom garment though.

Yeah the buttons are what I was thinking maybe 80s-90s doing a custom sort of 50s look- it does have small shoulder pads inside- I forgot that detail. Again handmade kind of throws me off as people just do custom random things sometimes. I can post some construction pics later- I like that its a one of a kind piece but I am definitely having a hard time dating it! Its not brand new by holding it here but I am with you on construction as being more 90s maybe?? It does not have stitching that shows on the hem, it is folded over into the lining. The sleeves have a two inch slits at their cuff no stitching showing. The button holes are under a faux flap that gives it a seamless look where the only button showing is the larger black one at the top where it closes with a small snap and that button. There is also a slit in the back of the coat about 1 ft. The larger exaggerated collar we see in the 80s 90s .....

It looks 90's to me, from the general outline which is similar to suit jackets from then. There was also a revival in oriental fabric in the 90's.

Thanks for the input, after looking closer at stitching (especially on the collar as Nicole pointed out) and overall design I am having 90s flashbacks, especially those buttons which were my first clue. I usually don't go for anything later than the 80s but the fabric and overall thing is just unique. Maybe it is all because I was in high school in the 90s..... I am dating myself now....circa 80s-90s teenager....
