CARE LABELS in July of 1972.

ZIP CODES in July of 1963. The zip code was extended to 9 digits in 1981.

Just thought you might be interested.:D


Also, on the care instructions, does this mean you did not see care instructions before 1972 or did some manufacturers put it in some garments prior to 1972 even though they were not required to????? Inquiring minds want to know.:puzzled:
 
You know...zip codes have helped me date things at times. If a tag/ad with the item in it has a company address with a zip on it and you are on the fence as far as what year it was, it is a good tip off.
 
it's my understanding that there were SOME manufacturers who used care labels prior to that date... but I don't think it was a lot.

At least it helps narrow it down! If it has a care label it's MOST LIKELY after 1972
