Found this and would love help

Hello all,

I found this poncho at an Estate Sale but it doesn't have a tag anywhere on it. I was wondering if someone might have experience with this type of vintage find?

It is very heavy, apx 5 lbs, has little leather applications with embroidered stitching around them to keep them in place. The poncho might be suede? I am unsure because I don't think suede weighs as much as this poncho and the leather feels think.

I would appreciate any hints to help me on my journey to discover this beauties origin.

That is a a great find. Suede can be quite heavy, and your cape looks like deerskin, judging by only the photo. The style looks 1970s.

Oooh, Kirsten - I love this!
I would go with a late '60s/early '70s dating.
I'd refer to its style as a cape, as ponchos generally aren't tailored and slip over the head as opposed to a front opening.

It reminds me of those vintage deerskin capes they sold in the late 60's and 70's.
