I’m an avid thrifter and have sifted through endless racks of clothing in my day. Found this beautiful dress today at goodwill. I could tell immediately from the structure and weight of the dress that it was something special. Someone had poached the 2 buttons from the front flaps, which made it even more puzzling about the dresses origin. It definitely evokes the vibe of Jackie Kennedy. Neckline is wider and sleeves seem shorter. Very structured. I’m not an expert on fabric, but it feels of high quality. The metal zipper says “Mark” and also stamped “USA”. There is an eye hook at the neck and also at the waist seam. Only tag says Lot 6 (the six is handwritten) and size 14. It fits me almost perfectly and I’m a current size 8. I’ve included pictures of the seams for reference. Any info about possible dates, brand, and origin would be so appreciated. Do you think the buttons were of value to someone? I know some designer buttons can fetch a lot online. Since an American zipper is used, would that rule out any European designers of the era? Thanks so much!!
