Found a lovely necessaire black velvet purse.
Does anyone know the name? I cannot read the first word and perhaps time period. Prongleet? Modele Deposes is last 2 words.
The stars are metal.

Thanks for any help.
Sandy

I'm seeing 1940's, lovely bag!
Can you get another shot of the markings, with the first word in the middle please? it goes out of focus towards the edges.

I'm sure it is a French name or word, as the rest is, and the last two letters are ET, before that it's something like PRUNILLET?

I agree with Lynne (Lynn?) that the "et" is a separate word. Not sure, as it is very closely set to the previous letters. It may be the patent (applied for or realized) for the brass/metal frame, and not for the purse itself. Just an idea.

I bet it's something about being protected & registered then, rather than a maker's name. 'Protege' doesn't quite fit though...

Great bag. I agree with '40's and I'm not sure what the first word is. Modele Deposé means registered design. "Et" is and. I agree with Barbara that whatever it says, it refers to the patent for the design of the purse frame. I thought maybe "produite" which makes sense and means produced but the letters don't match. It sort of looks like produce but the next to last letter really looks like an "L"....

Hopefully Sandy can get a clearer photo and the mystery will be solved!

Sorry, I was shipping today.
The problem is the first word has the top worn off.
This is best I can do.

The confusion comes from the mark being stamped twice, and the first words has bits of both overlaid. I believe it reads PROFILE and in this context stands for the design or shape of the bag.

*cross posted with Ikranieri! Registered shape and design then.
