FRAUD ALERT: Hong Kong Sellers Replicating Legitimate Listing

Such a pity - I've seen similar tactics with corsets on ebay, where the off-shore manufacturer uses photos of established and reputable companies and offers a cheap (and low quality) look-a-like. If only ebay would do more to police this area.

I made the mistake of buying a knock-off listing. I bought a laptop and the shipped me a piece of cardboard in an envelope. I didn't get a knock-off product. I fell for a copy of a legitimate listing. I don't buy anything from overseas anymore. I have a few legitimate sellers I'll continue to do business with but other than that, no.

You can see that they linked all their images right to that sellers photobucket.

Oooh, I'm too angry to type.

Well they have 17 negatives out of 50. I notice one dress they sold - 99 cents for the dress and $169 for shipping! And the customer was happy in that case, that's what counts ...

HUH....doesn't it seem that eBay would take em down for fee avoidance?

Looks like the original seller got wise - all the photos are down. The only photo left on the Chinese sellers listing is the thumbnail that shows up when you're looking at a list of items.

Does anyone here know Pink Champagne Vintage? This seems like the perfect opportunity to replace the fraudulently linked jpgs with something embarassing.

thanks for the reminder..i hate ebay!

this is outrageous.. i cannot belive they can't (won't) do anything.

looks like Pink Champagne already deleted her images.. good for her!!
argh!

I sent her a message via ebay.

Like I said, I received a piece of cardboard! Cardboard in an envelope. It was suppose to be a laptop. I was so pissed. I had to go to the post office to sign for it and I'm afraid I made a little stink. I was steaming mad.

They take the money and run.... That's what they do. And they ruin the reputation of legitimate sellers.

Wow - I remove listing from China and Hong Kong b/c I don't trust the quality - but that is beyond what I ever would've thought people would do - good on you for contacting the seller - she can get it pulled - they should be charged with fraud.

I lost of all my e-mail from August so I can't contact her but I've noticed she is no longer selling on eBay. She had some amazing items and great feedback.

Makes me think about moving to Etsy.....

Although I should mention that I contacted an Etsy seller and Etsy last year because I found the same items listed on ebay. The paintings were suppose to be one of a kind originals. One seller was from overseas in the China area again...

You know, I just looked at the page of that fraudulent seller from China (even though I know the post is old) out of curiosity, and did anyone else notice in his feedback that just EVERY positive feedback on the first page of feedbacks is from users listed as "no longer a registered user on eBay"? Might be something else to look out for...

I probably only looked at the first five. I'll have to keep that in mind in the future. Maybe the most recent have been recently stolen ids.... Thanks for the tip!
