Frederick Starke- Anyone outside the UK have one they would care to share?

Hello all!

I am currently doing research for my MA dissertation and one of the key players I am looking into is Frederick Starke, who I feel now is totally and utterly wildly under appreciated for the work he did as a businessman and as one of the leading lights of the British wholesale trade....anyway this is slightly besides the point. At the moment my big interest is export. Starke from 1947 onwards was one of the first big transatlantic British fashion wholesalers and was selling heavily to America in particular and also to Australia.

I was just wondering if anyone out there (outside the UK in particular...but I love Starke pieces so I am always up for seeing them!) has any garments by Starke that they might like to share images with me? I am particularly interested in any garments that also carry the store labels. I know for example there were tie ups with Bonwit Teller and also Bergdorfs.

Thanks

Liz

This Starke in my Etsy shop is labeled with Best's Apparel-Seattle. I think it's a wonderful quality suit.

Thanks Mary Jane, again very useful. Starke's lining in his garments is very distinctive. He only started producing the monogrammed silk lining to get around the fact that retail stores were removing his labels and putting their store labels in instead in the late 40s!

Oh wow! Do let us know which stores were doing this if you have any idea?
