What place would this crocodile handbag marked Made in France come from? How old would it be? How can I tell if it's a skin and not just embossed leather? How does one improve/refurbish the outside besides mink oil?

I am not sure I understand what your first question is asking, as you are noting it came from France. Please post a photo of the "Quality House" name and whatever it is that tells you it was made in France.

Thank you for your help, Lynn. Photo shows inside stamps. It seems to be an odd name for a French company, whether a fashion house or a leather goods house. Grace in New Orleans

I think fashion house was probably an American shop that imported goods, such as your bag, from other countries. So it was made in France for the American market.
