Fun archive films of gorgeous accessories

Super old films, Sarah...what a treat, it's hard to believe that wonderful diamante jewelry film is from 1946, right after WWII!

The hairdo and eyebrow stylings are something to see too!

The spectacles film is marvelous and the earrings are quite the treat!

I have to find the time to watch the rest.

Thank you, Sarah, for taking the time to share with us, what fun!

Thanks Mary Jane!

The British Pathé archive is full of incredible fashion films. I know because I've spent waaay too much time cataloging them, and plan to post many more highlights in the future.

It is a wonderful resource for vintage eye-candy, and who knows? - perhaps you might spot something in your own collection or inventory! Its worth a search.

And that 1946 film was made at a time when rationing was still in force, so I wonder how many women could have acquired those items . . .

What fun (and w hat a great blog entry!)

The party earrings were a hoot! I wouldn't have thought of such whimsical novelty/kitsch designs as mid 50s, so that was very interesting, as was the fact that that they all seemed to be screwbacks...

I WANT that pistol earring with matching belt buckle, and if it doesn't coordinate with my "shakespeare books" handbag, so be it!

thanks for posting, Sarah!

This is SOOOO FUN!! Thanks so much for posting. I just had a cup of tea and watched them all. They are great and some of the items made me laugh out loud!! Let's see, the single gun earring and matching belt, the booze flasks concealed as books and the bamboo glasses!! I LOVED the purse that looks like a stack of books and the purse with the mirror and toiletries!! Of course the ones on the glasses were my fave as I have been wearing vintage frames for years and WISH I could get my hands on some of those!!

Thanks again for posting, it made my Saturday!!

Fabulous, Sarah -

I really enjoyed them all. I particularly liked seeing not only what the models were wearing but the spectators in the "spectacle" film. Seeing films like this makes the era come alive and also helps to date some of the pieces that we find.

I loved all the movies but think I need the flask set disguised as miniature books! I really like the little red handbag without the mirror!

Thanks everyone! Glad you enjoyed them!

Carrie - yes, it was interesting to see so many screw-backs at that time. And I want the cuckoo clock earrings!

Amber - you've picked out some of my favourites too!

Linn - I agree, the spectators were just as interesting. I love seeing how they composed their outfits and accessorised. And the models in the last film seemed to glide along rather than stomp and wiggle as they do these days!

Ookoo - what would you give for a time machine?!

I must mention the little green evening bag with the feather hat - that was the funniest thing!
