It looks like it's appliques rather than printed, is that right?

it's like cutouts in the black to show the yellow, here's a pic of the inside which prob makes it more clear:

I've had a similar style dress before. It's an applique and the dress felt kind of quilted. It was also made in Pakistan but for Bullock's on Wilshire. The previous owner purchased it in the late 1960s.
