Hi People,
Please can you help in identifying the type of fur (is it Mink ?) and also any information on the label(McWhivis Fall River).
My wife inherited the coat some 40 years ago, so assume it is of 50's/60's or before.
To give you an idea of length my wife wearing it is 5ft 1".
It also has her mothers initials embroidered indside.
The label is not on this site of labels and shows no results on a google search, pics attached.
Ta............ Dave (UK)

It's the old fashioned "R"s, they aren't used any more and so how are you going to know? They're wacky - I learnt them in school but younger people had a different experience.

Thank you.......... you make me feel young !!........... any idea of what type the actual fur is ??
Cheers........... Dave

Dave, it doesn't look like mink to me, although I'm not as knowledgeable about fur as many folks here are. Marmot is what I'm thinking as a possibility, although it's a little more "furry" that a coat I have that I'm pretty sure is marmot.

Have you found our fur resource? Here: http://vintagefashionguild.org/fur-resource/ That might help you narrow it down. Although when something's been dyed to look like something else, which your wife's coat may or may not have been, it can be really hard to tell.
