Fur identification help

Hi guys how are you? I really struggle with identifying fur, despite all the help on this site! I bought this for myself and I believe it's a 50s jacket, am I correct in my dating and what is the fur please?

It does look 50s to me. I don't know for sure but it looks like ocelot or perhaps margay to me.

Thanks so much for your expertise Furwise! I'm a bit worried that this is CITES listed but it's such a lovely jacket, obviously I'll just never sell it! I don't suppose you have any recommendations of books on fur identification? I'd really like to improve my knowledge. Or I may just purchase a billion identifications on your site so I can learn that way!

This is on CITES checklist however it is okay for you to have for personal use.

I don't know of any fur identification books but the best way to learn about fur types is by studying animals, their characteristics; appearances, sizes, density, their textures, etc.; and handling them.
