Fur Identification Help

Hello all and a very happy new year!

I have this lovely Forstmann coat (Tailored by Brittany and sold at Palmer's in Portland, Maine), which I have dated to about 1942 by looking at various advertisements that incorporate both "tailored by brittany" and "forstmann." By all means, if you are of a different opinion regarding the date, I would love to hear it; however, my primary concern is with identifying the fur type. Given its coloring and overall poofiness, I'm guessing it's raccoon. Other thoughts?

Thank you, Mary Jane! I can definitely see a similarity to silver fox, too, but in weighing the possibility, I think the feel of the fur is a bit more coarse than fox, not quite so dense and fluffy.

It really is! Wonderful color, too. I felt very lucky to come across it. I only wish it also fit me, lol. C'est la vie!
