I am new to this forum, and navigating the site. I have a coat from Guggenheimer’s Dept. Store in Lynchburg, VA. It has a Fur Label Authority label with the serial number 355761 .
Does anyone have any info on this?

Hi there and welcome. I see one photo posted of a maker or furrier label and what looks like a small label with someone's name sewn along the bottom of it. I don't see the fur label authority label you've mentioned however we can give you a little bit of information about the fur label authority label.

The first use of the Fur Label Authority label was in 1956. It was used to assure consumers that fur garments were made under fair labor standards and complied with the fur products labeling act.

With that label being present, it can be determined that your coat is post 56. If you want to post more pics we will be happy to help more if we can. :)

Thank you for that pic. I was hoping for some pictures of the coat itself. The fur label authority label can only be used to ascertain the garment was made under fair labor conditions in 1956 or after.

Thank you very much. Your fur is mouton and I would date it to the latter portion of the 50s, could go into the 60s.

Cool little advert here for you though. Not exactly the same I don't think unless yours has turned back cuffs. Similar though. The mouton fur coat advertised was also made by Guggenheimer's and was advertised on page 16 of The News and Advance newspaper on Wednesday October 29th, 1958.
