Fur Question

I'm pretty sure this is mink. But was reading some "fur stuff" and found there were other named furs that were very similar to mink but less expensive.

Bernard Held (the label) was a very well known fur company name in our area. Does this look like mink to you?? Does mink have a thick-ish underfur fluff?

I generally do not sell much fur, but this cape has padded shoulders and a very Joan Crawford look. It's pretty neat.

Barbara, my monitor is small and tends to show dark, so I can't see this probably as well as I should, but it doesn't look like mink to me (though I'm no fur expert by a long shot). The minks I have had do not have a dense undercoat, but are more feathery. I keep thinking there is some skin that is known for the darker striping, but the specifics elude me. I know we have one or two fur experts here; I'm quite sure they will know more than I do! In any case, whatever it is, the style is very chic, and the fur looks as if it would be sumptious to the touch! Could it be ermine?

And, of course, if it came from Held-Projansky, it would have probably cost a small fortune in its day!
