Fur Wrap--Help With Dating and Fur Identification

Hello Again,
I also have a fur wrap here. I was hoping you help me identify the fur (as best as you can) as well as the date. The fur is very soft and the coat itself is very glossy. I'm normally used to seeing a satin lining for furs, so I'm a little curious about this lining. I don't know if it might be an indication of its age. Anyway, I'm happy to hear your thoughts! I'll be posting some more pieces over the next few weeks which I hope you also help me with!
Thanks
Lara

Hi all!
I'm sorry to bring this post to the top. But any information you might be able to give me about the type of fur it might be and/or a possible date, would be greatly appreciated. Also, if the picture are too big, or you'd like to see more I will gladly add more or adjust them. I checked the fur resource and I'm still unsure. At first I thought mink, now I'm wondering if it might be rabbit. I have yet to learn how to distinguish between the two. As for date: Is 60s or earlier a possibility? Your comments are greatly appreciated!

I'm not a fur expert, but rabbit and mink feel very different, try to find examples you can have in your hand and you'll really know the difference for the future. Rabbit is much fluffier, and mink more thick, glossy and smooth, as its a water going animal. The lining is perhaps a silk or rayon crepe. I'm not sure on date, hope some else will chip in.

It's hard to tell the type of fur from your pictures, but my sense is that it's not mink. Both rabbit and squirrel are very soft furs, with rabbit fluffier and often longer-haired than squirrel, and squirrel very glossy and sleek. Ruth's advice is excellent; if you can check actual examples (of fur types you suspect this stole may be) and "cross reference" with pics in the fur resource, that may help you pin it down.

Again, your pics aren't quite crisp enough for me to see the "texture" of the lining, but in your 1st and 3rd pics it looks a lot like the rayon crepe lining you'd find in 40s/50s suits.

I'm thinking your stole is 50s or even late 40s... Looks like the collar folds over into handwarmer "pockets" in the long ends? Love that detail... Long, wide fur collars showed up on 40s (non fur) coats, and the one here seems reminiscent of them...
