Gantner of California Swimsuit vs Playsuit (pictures)

Hello,
I bought pink and black plaid swimsuit today. The tag say Gantner of California. I'm thinking it is from around the 1950s.
What is the difference between a playsuit and a swimsuit?
This is a halter style with straps that tie around the neck.
I will try to get a photo of it later today to post.
I also got a black swimsuit same era same style that says Pennys on the tag.

Thanks,
Sue

Gantner was a swimsuit company, so it is most likely that.

The difference is in the structure. A swimsuit is designed to be worn alone, but a playsuit would have required undergarments.

We do want to see photos!

I'd call it both - I bet it's a swim suit, they used to made of cotton, but I would also call it a play suit since that would be what more people nowadays would think of it as - it is uber cool! Love it!

Agreed Melody, and I love how they used to well conceal the "trouble" spots like hips - I hate, hate hate those high cut suit - hate them. lol
